Do I need Travel Insurance?

All Blue October Getaway purchases are final and non-refundable. Travel insurance is the only way to recover your costs if your plans unexpectedly change — we strongly recommend protecting your investment by purchasing a policy soon after booking.

Why Travel Insurance Matters

Even the best-planned trips can face the unexpected — a delayed flight, lost luggage, or a last-minute illness. A good policy covers trip cancellation or interruption, flight delays and missed connections, lost or delayed baggage, medical care or evacuation while abroad, and 24/7 emergency assistance.

Having a policy in place ensures that if something goes wrong, you’re not left facing the financial impact alone.

What to Know Before You Buy

  • You can buy travel insurance up to 48 hours before departure, but late policies will not cover pre-existing conditions or “cancel for any reason”
  • Guests with pre-existing conditions must purchase within 14 days of their first trip payment to have those conditions covered, and they must add the Cancel for Any Reason rider
  • We recommend the TravelGuard Plus policy for stronger coverage, but you’re welcome to compare all options

You may also purchase coverage from any reputable provider — just make sure your plan includes international travel, trip cancellation, and medical emergencies in Mexico or Portugal (depending on your destination).
